WEYMOUTH, Mass. (February 15, 2024) 一 The Futures League today officially released its 2024 schedule. The league’s 14th season of summer baseball action in New England will begin with three games on Opening Day, which is scheduled for Friday, May 24.
The Futures League continues its momentum as one of the top summer collegiate leagues in the country. Five of the top 37 teams in Ballpark Digest’s 2023 nationwide attendance rankings were from the league, which welcomed more than 332,000 fans across all eight ballparks during the summer.
More than 2.9 million spectators have attended games since the Futures League’s inception in 2011. Fans have watched some of the top college talent from New England and beyond, including more than 260 future professional baseball players and 18 major leaguers.
“The schedule release is a great day in the Futures League because now we can start to really engage with our fans and show our vision for the 2024 season,” Futures League Commissioner Joe Paolucci said. “The Farmer’s Almanac is calling for a warm, dry summer, so our fingers are crossed for that outcome.”
The 2024 regular-season schedule will run from Friday, May 24 until Sunday, Aug. 4. Mondays will generally be a league-wide off day, except for Memorial Day (May 27).
The season-opening slate on May 24 features Westfield hosting a “Kid’s Opening Day” matinee against Worcester at Bullens Field. Night games include Nashua welcoming Vermont to Historic Holman Stadium and Norwich traveling to New Britain for the first installment of their Connecticut in-state rivalry.
The first 2023 championship rematch between Norwich and Vermont is set for a two-game series at Dodd Stadium on Tuesday, June 4 and Wednesday, June 5.
As previously announced, Norwich will also host the Futures League All-Star Experience for the first time on Tuesday, July 23. Tickets for the two-day event at Dodd Stadium will go on sale beginning on Thursday, February 29. Further details can be found here. The 2023 All-Star Game was played in front of a league-record crowd of 4,415 at Centennial Field in Burlington, Vt.
The 2024 Futures League Postseason is set to begin on Monday, Aug. 5, immediately following the conclusion of the regular season.
The first-of-its-kind “Home Run Derby Wins It” tiebreaker returns for an eighth season in 2024. Once again, all regular-season league games tied after one extra inning will be decided with a shootout-style home run derby.
