Pittsfield's Margot Douillet to Become First Woman to Manage in Futures League Game on June 8

The Pittsfield Suns are extremely proud to announce that director of operations and bullpen coach, Margot Douillet, will be acting manager for the Pittsfield Suns on Wednesday, June 8th for the game against the Vermont Lake Monsters at Centennial Field. Douillet will be the first woman in Futures League history to serve as head coach in an FCBL game.

A native of Housatonic, Douillet graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.S. in Statistics. Her passion has always been the analytical side of baseball, and in her free time, she runs lineup simulations and makes shift charts for the team. Starting in the fall, Douillet will be an M.S./M.B.A. candidate in Sport Management at UMass Amherst's Isenberg School of Management.

"Listen, I've worked with Margot since 2018," said Billy Madewell, Director of Broadcasting & Media Relations. "She expects results, likes things done the right way, and always has a hand guiding others to success. That is a fantastic leader if you ask me. The players respect the heck out of her. Everyone [in the clubhouse] understands how much Margot brings to the table and whatever she focuses on, she always produces. I'm certain the same energy will carry over as skipper."

General Manager for the Suns, Sander Stotland, had this to say regarding the announcement: "Margot has been a huge asset to our organization since she started here as an intern. She's worked her way up and has never looked down. She's the epitome of the phrase 'hard work pays off.' It's very hard to find a person more determined and driven in their role than Margot."

"I'm extremely excited for this opportunity to take the helm for the Suns," Douillet reacted to the news. "I think it's an important step for the league and I hope it sets a precedent going forward."

The Pittsfield Suns travel to Vermont to take on the Lake Monsters. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM on Wednesday, June 8th.
