2021 Futures Collegiate Baseball League Postseason Field Set

WEYMOUTH, Mass. (August 13, 2021) -- Following a full Friday night of the regular season with standings implications in all four games, the field for the 2021 Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL) Playoffs has been set.

A pair of best-of-three semifinal series will kick off on Saturday, August 14, with the winners meeting in another best-of-three round for the championship immediately following. The higher-seeded team will host the first and, if necessary, third game in both rounds. Click here for schedules and scores.

The Vermont Lake Monsters locked up the No. 1 seed and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs by beating Westfield on Tuesday, becoming the first-ever FCBL team with 40 wins in a season. Vermont's semifinal opponent will be fourth-seeded Worcester, which it beat four times in seven meetings on the summer.

The four-time champion Bravehearts beat Nashua in their Friday night finale at Hanover Insurance Park to book postseason tickets for the eighth time in as many years for the franchise. That result also eliminated a Westfield team that was looking to clinch its first-ever berth.

The second and third seeds were in flux until Friday’s final result became official, but the Pittsfield Suns edged out the Brockton Rox -- who won four of their final five games -- for the No. 2 spot and will host the opening playoff game between the two teams on Saturday night at Wahconah Park.

Pittsfield earned the edge by winning back-to-back games in Vermont to end the regular season and will open the playoffs against a team that enjoyed great success against throughout the year, winning six out of eight head-to-head meetings.

Saturday's games in Vermont and Pittsfield are scheduled for 6:05 p.m. starts.
