Futures League Thursdays on NESN, Presented by Masis Staffing Solutions, Coming in 2023

WEYMOUTH, Mass. (June 16, 2023) -- The Futures League is proud to announce the continuation of its linear television partnership with the New England Sports Network (NESN) for the fourth consecutive year.

During the 2023 season, “Futures League Thursdays on NESN” -- presented by Masis Staffing Solutions -- will feature televised games on the popular regional sports network over four consecutive Thursday nights in July and early August. The entire NESN slate will consist of nighttime starts at 7 p.m. for the first time in league history.

“For the last four years NESN has been one of the Futures League's most important partners, and we are excited to continue our relationship this season,” Futures League Commissioner Joe Paolucci said. “The change to a primetime spot on Thursday nights will help the evolution of the Futures League as we strive to be one of the best summer collegiate leagues in the country.”

July 13 marks the first game of this summer’s NESN series. The Worcester Bravehearts will host the Vermont Lake Monsters at Fitton Field in Worcester, Mass.

The defending and six-time Futures League champion Nashua Silver Knights will take center stage on July 20, hosting the Brockton Rox at Historic Holman Stadium in Nashua, N.H.

Dodd Stadium in Norwich, Conn., will be the site of a July 27 contest between the homestanding Norwich Sea Unicorns and the Westfield Starfires. The four-game set will conclude with Worcester and Vermont meeting again August 3 in the first-ever NESN game at Centennial Field in Burlington, Vt.

The partnership between the Futures League and NESN began with a three-game slate in 2020 when no other league in the northeastern United States completed its season at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic. NESN has aired a four-game slate during each of the last two summers.

Founded in 2011, The Futures League is a wood-bat league featuring top collegiate baseball players from New England and throughout the country. The league features eight teams following the expansion to two former minor league markets — Burlington, Vt. and Norwich, Conn. — for 2021 and has attracted more than 2.5 million fans to games since its inception. On the field, over 200 alumni have been drafted by or signed with Major League Baseball organizations and 14 have advanced all the way to “The Show.”
