Futures Collegiate Baseball League to Host Scout Days

Updated on August 3 to reflect time and date changes

WEYMOUTH, Mass. (July 21, 2020) -- The Futures Collegiate Baseball League is excited to announce that it will be hosting three Scout Days this summer to help provide its players with greater exposure to Major League Baseball scouts from throughout the New England region.

All six Futures League teams will be participating in a Scout Day during the week of Monday, August 3.

On Monday, August 3, the New Britain Bees and Westfield Starfires will open up the series with an event at New Britain Stadium in New Britain, Conn. The Scout Day will begin at 3 p.m., followed by a game at 6:35 p.m.

On Wednesday, August 5, the Nashua Silver Knights and North Shore Navigators will participate at Fraser Field in Lynn, Mass. The Scout Day will begin at 3 p.m., followed by a game at 6:05 p.m.

On Saturday, August 8, the Brockton Rox and Worcester Bravehearts will be showcased at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton, Mass. This Scout Day was originally scheduled to take place on Tuesday, August 4, but it was postponed and will now be held at 10 a.m., followed by a game at 1 p.m.

As the Futures League remains the only regular New England-based league playing some form of its 2020 schedule, the upcoming Scout Day events provide players with a great opportunity to showcase their talents, especially after the majority of their spring seasons in college were shortened or completely cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Each Scout Day will follow the same format that has been used in the popular event that takes place prior to the Futures League All-Star Game, which will unfortunately not take place in 2020, and has attracted scouts from a variety of professional organizations. The Scout Day schedule will consist of position players from all six teams running a 60-yard dash and participating in batting practice and infield/outfield sessions.

For those unable to attend, all three Scout Days will be streamed on the FCBL Network powered by BlueFrame Technology.
