FCBL Partners with Be The Match

Be The Match

WEYMOUTH, Mass. (July 15, 2020) -- The Futures Collegiate Baseball League is excited to announce a new partnership with Be The Match, looking to hit a ‘grand slam’ by making a birthday wish come true to find a match for a local boy in need.

Soon to be, five-year-old Bryce from Auburn, MA was recently diagnosed with Hyper IgM, an immunodeficiency which results in his body being unable to fight viruses or bacterial infections. Bryce, who turns five on July 18, needs a matched donor to donate bone marrow to cure him. Only 30 percent of patients like Bryce will have a sibling who is a perfect match and, unfortunately, his big brother, Brodie, is not his match.

That’s why the FCBL had partnered with Be The Match, the largest and most diverse bone marrow registry, to encourage people in good general health ages 18-44 to join the registry in hopes to find Bryce’s match.

Joining the registry can be done safely from home by completing a five-minute digital registration and cheek swab kit. Those interested in registering in Bryce’s honor can do so by visiting https://join.bethematch.org/BrothersForBryce or texting BrothersForBryce to 61474.

Players from all six FCBL teams have or will be joining the registry during the 2020 season.

The Nashua Silver Knights and Worcester Bravehearts have already participated and will be joined by the North Shore Navigators (July 24), Westfield Starfires (July 25), Brockton Rox (Aug. 7) and New Britain Bees (Aug. 8) during upcoming visits to play at Historic Holman Stadium in Nashua, N.H.

Fans are also welcome to visit the stadium to be swabbed prior to the start of 6 p.m. games on any of those dates.
