2019 Futures League Playoff Preview

WEYMOUTH, Mass. -- As the 2019 Futures League regular season came to an end on Sunday, we crowned the Brockton Rox as regular season champions with a 31-23 record. Now is the time that every member of each team has worked their entire summer for – the playoffs.

Starting Monday, August 5th, we will be seeing Futures League playoff action. There will be two games Monday, each of them being a one game winner-moves-on game. Each winner of these two games will advance to the playoff semifinals which starts Tuesday. The top 2 seeds, the Brockton Rox and Bristol Blues, get a first round bye. Be sure to stay updated with the Futures League social medias as well as the website, thefuturesleague.com, for all details regarding playoff matchups. Here is the playoff schedule:

Monday, August 5th, Round One

(3) North Shore Navigators vs. (6) Nashua Silver Knights

Location: Fraser Field, Lynn, Massachusetts

Time: 7 PM

The North Shore Navigators ended up as the #3 seed heading into the playoffs after leading the standings for most weeks of the regular season. They find themselves in a must-win situation as they look to eliminate the Nashua Silver Knights from championship contention. It will not be an easy fight as Nashua has proved to be a tough team to beat, even defeating North Shore 2-1 just a couple of days ago on Saturday night. Make sure to get down to Fraser Field in Lynn to see which team will move on to the Futures League semi-finals!

(4) Worcester Bravehearts vs. (5) Pittsfield Suns

Location: Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field, Worcester, Massachusetts

Time: 7:05 PM

The #4 seed Worcester Bravehearts earned themselves a chance to host the #5 seed Pittsfield Suns in the other one-game playoff game at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field in Worcester. Both Worcester and Pittsfield are capable of putting up huge games as both teams have some lights-out pitching and players that can change the game at any time offensively. These teams will be sure to put on a show as they are very similar teams. Pittsfield ended the regular season trailing Worcester by just 1.5 games in the standings! Get down to Worcester for what will be an amazing night of Futures League baseball!

Tuesday, August 6th, Game 1 of Semifinals

(1) Brockton Rox vs. TBD (Lowest Seeded Monday Winner)

The #1 seed Brockton Rox will just have to wait to see the results of Monday’s games to find out who they will be up against in the semifinals. They will be playing the lowest remaining seed from Monday. For example, if the Nashua Silver Knights defeat the North Shore Navigators, then the Rox will play the Silver Knights in the semifinals. The semifinals will be three game series and a 1-1-1 format meaning Brockton will host Game 1, their opponent will host Game 2 on Wednesday, and then if a Game 3 is necessary, then it will go back to Brockton on Thursday. Be sure to follow the Futures League on all social medias to find out all of the details regarding the semifinals as they are determined.

(2) Bristol vs. TBD (Highest Seeded Monday Winner)

Since the Bristol Blues ended up as the #2 seed heading into the playoffs, they also get a bye into the semifinals where they will play the highest remaining seed from Monday’s games. This is the same format as the other semifinal series. It will be a three game series and Bristol will host Game 1, their opponent will host Game 2, and if necessary, Game 3 will come back to Bristol. Once again, make sure you are following the Futures league on all social medias and staying updated with the website for details regarding the upcoming semifinals.
